Who is legally responsible for a franchisees' trailer?

Answer

This is a broad question which can depend on a number of factors. However, generally the person is the registered owner of the trailer will be legally responsible for it.

This includes keeping it road worthy condition and registered to be on the road.

  1. If your franchisee is renting the trailer from Jim's Group or yourself, then there might be some other applicable terms in the agreement of lease or rental agreement. It is best to refer to these from the relevant person to best understand your position.

  2. Also note that most car insurance policies will cover your trailer in regards to public liability which covers the trailer causing third party property damage.
